ICT associate was awarded the Borys Paton National Prize of Ukraine

According to the decree of the President of Ukraine №660/221, Deputy Director of the Institute of Cell Therapy Cryobank Dr. Volodymyr Shablii, PhD was awarded the Borys Paton National Prize of Ukraine for the workInnovative methods of stem cells and bioengineering technologies application in regenerative medicine”.

 

The work was co-authored with leading scientists of Ukraine (full list below), the staff of the Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology of NAMSU, the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of NAMSU”, the Institute of Genetic and Regenerative Medicine of NAMSU”,  the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery of NAMSU”, Bogomolets National Medical University, Chernivtsi Regional Clinical Hospital.

 

Recall that the Institute of Cell Therapy cryobank director Dr. Galina Lobintseva, PhD is the holder of the State Prize of Ukraine. Research projects with the participation of the Institute of Cell Therapy have previously been awarded by the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, the International Placenta Stem Cell Society (IPLASS) and others. The Institute of Cell Therapy is also a co-executor of European Union Horizon projects.

 

In 2008, the Institute of Cell Therapy became one of the first medical institutions in our country to receive permission from the Coordination Center for Organ, Tissue and Cell Transplantation of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine to conduct clinical trials using human stem cells.

 

During the recent 13 years, the Institute of Cell Therapy in cooperation with leading research institutions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine has successfully completed clinical trials for the treatment of chronic lower extremity ischemia, pancreatic necrosis, keratitis of infectious and neurotrophic etiology. Methods of treatment of chronic ischemia of the lower extremities and pancreatic necrosis with the use of umbilical cord blood stem cells in 2012 were officially approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

 

Today, the Institute of Cell Therapy is a co-sponsor of clinical trials in the treatment of osteoarthritis, COVID-19 pneumonia, contractile heart disease, ischemic cardiomyopathy, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, peripheral arteries and trophic ulcers of the lower extremities. The only manufacturer of cell drugs for the treatment of patients with the above diseases is Cryobank of the Institute of Cell Therapy.

KYRYK Vitaliy Mykhailovych – Candidate of Medical Sciences, Head of the Laboratory of the State Institution “Institute of Genetic and Regenerative Medicine of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”

RUDENKO Serhiy Anatoliyovych – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of the State Institution “National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery named after MM Amosov of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”

MEDVEDEV Vladimir Viktorovich – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the National Medical University named after OO Bogomolets
